Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March in 1991. She is an American singer-songwriter and the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. On October 21, 2016, she released Pho, her first EP under the label Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she began to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio release was May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music online in 2012, when she dropped her the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her own single Bound along with her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. On July 21 2015 she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat it Out. J. Cole was interested by her talent and was looking to work with Rihanna. On the 8th of December, it was confirmed that she had been contracted to Dreamville Records. In the record Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the song Backseat along with Cozz. In October of 2016, she released her first EP, Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was joined by EarthGang. In 2018, she appeared in two tracks, including the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018 she released her debut single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video to accompany it was also released on September 5th. On November 9 she released two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Two more singles were released by her on 11/13, titled Pedigree and No One. She appeared with Cole in her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16and later she released the song in a solo version for the album she released her debut. A music video debuted on 20 February 2019 in conjunction with the song. Within a time, it was viewed more than 3,000,000 views. She was one of the support acts for 6LACK in their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
