Selena
She was a performer, artist creator, performer and also set new boundaries in the music world. She was the first Mexican American performer who was traditional yet modern. She brought both cultures together and brought Tejano music into mainstream culture. She was a rising star who's tragic death threw it into turmoil. And as is common when a brilliant, genial young performer is lost too quickly and is buried, many mourned the greatness that she could not yet attain. In the years since, her admirers have worked even harder to never forget the achievements she has achieved. Her tragic murder by a gunman caused emotions in Latino communities, similar to those who reacted to the death of Elvis Presley and John Lennon's. Selena was a wildly loved singer by Latinos throughout North America. But her music touched both the young and the old. Selena, who was hot and glamorous stage performer, who was often called Latina Madonna, was also the model on stage. Selena was also active in antidrug campaigns.
